Personal Bio

After graduating high school in the summer of 1979, Steve got a summer job as an apprentice draftsman working for a small consulting engineering firm in Montreal designing building mechanical systems (heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and fire protection systems). Steve realized a passion for the work and excelled at his position and by fall of that year the job became full time.

"I was 19 years old and learning to design major retail stores and condominiums. I was going to construction meetings and dealing with contractors to resolve site issues. For a young guy like me this was a very exciting time!"

Steve remained with the firm as a draftsman for a number of years until he decided to take the next step and returned to university to pursue his degree in engineering.

Steve graduated Concordia University, Centre for Building Studies in 1990 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Along with courses like HVAC and service system design, Steve took courses in indoor air quality, building envelope analysis, acoustics and concrete and steel design, among others. These courses provided him a rounded interdisciplinary background.

During his time at university Steve continued to work part time as a designer for various firms, gaining additional experience and exposure in commercial and Industrial mechanical building systems.

Since graduation from University Steve has worked for many large and small firms in Montreal, Toronto and London Ontario designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for large and small commercial, institutional and residential buildings. As well, he has conducted many building audits and IAQ analysis, and has expertise in LEED Mechanical design.

"Over the course of my career I've had the good fortune to work for a number of top notch engineering firms large and small and have had opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects."

Steve lives in London Ontario with his wife and two children. Steve enjoys hockey and golf and is a fan of the London Knights and London Majors.
